THE REALIZATION OF INTERPERSONAL MEANING OF SPOKEN TEXTS IN AN EFL INTERNATIONAL TEXTBOOK: A SYSTEMIC FUNCTIONAL LINGUISTICS PERSPECTIVE

Interpersonal metafunction is an important concept when describing interactions in terms of responding to the act giving or demanding goods, services, information (Halliday and Mathiessen (2004). This article examines interpersonal meanings realized mood modality resources Interchange Series textbook—the fourth edition textbook used for Grade 3 Intermediate students. The research u discourse analysis Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) as main theoretical framework, element a central resource realization meaning. results show that among 275 clauses 16 texts, declarative sentences dominate (146 53.09 percent). Interrogative are much less common (64, 23.27 None therefore, utilize any imperative clauses.
